Al Gore's Whim Uncovered

As was posted elsewhere within the observations of these continuing AGW ( Anthropogenic Global Warming: Al Gore's Wim) and British Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University email scandal:
"If anyone takes a serious look at this problem, these scientists have caused countries to spend enormous amounts of money, fighting something that hasn’t been proven. The House Democrats have passed a Cap and Trade Bill, all based on this flawed science, that could cost trillions of dollars and numerous jobs. For better or worse, GE has invested billions of dollars trying to gain favor with the environmental zealots, lobbying Congress to outlaw the incandescent light bulb, forcing television manufacturers to make their Large Screen Televisions more energy efficient. Congress has not allowed us to become energy independent because it would require drilling for oil and we’re committed to lowering our carbon emissions, because of this flawed science.
Personally, I believe this lawsuit, and many others, is necessary to help stop the people that spread these skewed statistics for a political agenda. I’m sure that same liberal philosophy, that brought about this scientific malpractice, is also being done in the area of health care legislation, etc. It appears that the liberal ideal of doing what it takes to win, is at play in many things. I hope that the news organizations and law enforcement take the bull by the horns here and bring out the truth about what happened. I’m sure the AGW crowd, in the U.S., is as guilty as those in the U.K."

Those of us who have been skeptical for many years of AGW have a tendency to be smug as it all unfolds here. However, we need to be outraged. We (the world) have been duped; fortunes have been made for many and stripped from others, careers have been created for some and poverty has been foisted upon many, Taxes have been and are continuing to be levied while phony 'carbon offsets' are lining the pockets of the perpetrators. Some need to be made accountable else the ploy will be successful and evolved into the next global 'scheme and scare'. It should be interesting to watch as the pious and arrogant AGW sycophants who have smeared and soiled those who have tried to apply real logic, attempt to position themselves as bystanders merely following someone else's lead, victim's themselves. Bullshit!

Shamefully the Copenhagen 'Event' (The United Nation's Copenhagen climate summit) is still continuing to unfold in front of us on December 7th (another Day of Infamy in American History; how fitting...). All of the world's AGW proponents and instigators are meeting in Copenhagen in just a couple of weeks to attempt to put a death grip on a global tax and global control to further line their pockets and careers for the future. Sure enough, our 44th President, BHO, the great American Apologist is attending himself with plans to jump on board the Al Gore Express and commit the US to even deeper participation in this farce! Even as the sham is being outted!!!!

"Climategate" -- Forget the Emails: What Will the Hacked Documents Tell Us?

Last week thousands of emails and documents were hacked from the British Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia. The emails revealed a lot of scientific nastiness and some efforts to suppress climate research with which CRU leaders disagreed.

But I've been wondering what insights about how climate data is put together by CRU researchers the hacked documents and models might hold? I assume that climate catastrophe skeptics are analyzing the CRU documents now. In one very preliminary analysis, British statistician William Briggs is not impressed by the CRU climatologists' statistical acumen:

How do we know the temperature?

We have no direct observations of temperature—neither at the Earth’s surface or in the atmosphere—for the vast majority of history. So how can we know what the temperature used to be in the absence of actual measurements?

We can’t. We can only guess.

That’s right, all those squiggly-line pictures of temperature you see from before roughly 1900 are reconstructions; the lines are what is spit out of statistical models. They are therefore merely guesses. Even stronger, we have no way to know exactly how good these reconstructions are. If we did, then, obviously, we would know the actual temperatures, because the only way to know the actual model error is to compare the model’s predictions against the real data (which we don’t know).

To emphasize: the actual—as opposed to theoretical model—error is unknown. But we must try and estimate this error—it is of utmost importance—otherwise we cannot make decisions about the reconstructions....

CRU document

One example from something called a “SOAP-D-15-berlin-d15-jj” document. A non-native English speaker shows a plot of various proxy reconstructions from which he wanted to “reconstruct millennial [Northern Hemisphere] temperatures.” He said, “These attempts did not show, however, converge towards a unique millennial history, as shown in Fig. 1. Note that the proxy series have already undergone a linear transformation towards a best estimate to the CRU data (which makes them look more similar, cf. Briffa and Osborn, 2002).”

In other words, direct effort was made to finagle the various reconstructions so that they agreed with preconceptions. Those efforts failed. It’s like being hit in the head with a hockey stick.

"Today, the Competitive Enterprise Institute filed three Notices of Intent to File Suit against NASA and its Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), for those bodies’ refusal — for nearly three years — to provide documents requested under the Freedom of Information Act.
The information sought is directly relevant to the exploding “Climategate” scandal revealing document destruction, coordinated efforts in the U.S. and UK to avoid complying with both countries’ freedom of information laws, and apparent and widespread intent to defraud at the highest levels of international climate science bodies. Numerous informed commenters had alleged such behavior for years, all of which appears to be affirmed by leaked emails, computer code, and other data from the Climatic Research Unit of the UK’s East Anglia University.

All of that material, and that sought for years by CEI, goes to the heart of the scientific claims and campaign underpinning the Kyoto Protocol, its planned successor treaty, “cap-and-trade” legislation, and the EPA’s threatened regulatory campaign to impose similar measures through the back door.

CEI sought the following documents, among others. NASA’s failure to provide them within thirty days will prompt CEI to file suit in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia: -Internal discussions about NASA’s quiet correction of its false historical U.S. temperature records after two Canadian researchers discovered a key statistical error, specifically: discussion about whether and why to correct certain records, how to do so, the impact, or wisdom, or potential (or real) fallout there from or reaction to doing so (requested August 2007).– Internal discussions relating to the email sent to James Hansen and/or Reto A. Ruedy from a Stephen (Steve) McIntyre calling their attention to the errors in NASA/GISS online temperature data (August 2007). – Those relating to the content, importance, or propriety of workday-hour posts or entries by GISS/NASA employee Gavin A. Schmidt on the weblog or “blog” RealClimate, which is owned by the advocacy Environmental Media Services and was started as an effort to defend the debunked “Hockey Stick” that is so central to the CRU files. RealClimate.org is implicated in the leaked files and expressly offered as a tool to be used “in any way you think would be helpful” to a certain advocacy campaign, including an assertion of Schmidt’s active involvement in, e.g., delaying and/or screening out unhelpful input by “skeptics” attempting to comment on claims made on the website. This, and the related political activism engaged in, are inappropriate behavior for a taxpayer-funded employee, particularly on taxpayer time. These documents were requested in January 2007 and NASA/GISS have refused to date to comply with their legal obligation to produce responsive documents."


This BS is continuing forward as if the facts are not being uncovered daily! I'm sure that the great AGW efort of the past 15 years has to be culminated in this Global event as a wave crashes on the shore. There is too much momentum to stop it happening but they can certainly be muted in shame if the World looks on at laughs at them. They are effectively crying "the world is flat" in front of the returning Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.....! We have seen the New World.
